This is a class that amalgamates all traditions of theatre. The class gives the chance for the student to explore and master the different genres of acting, basic movement and singing. Students will learn to gain performance techniques and attack both “Glee” style choral work and traditional “Broadway” musical theatre.
CONTENT: Improvisation and Script work, Theatre games, Confidence and Team Building, Group and Solo exercises. Theatre vocabulary, Breathing and Vocal Technique, Articulation Exercises, Singing Exercises and Vocabulary, basic movement in varying styles to suit repertoire choice.
ATTIRE: Students will need to wear comfortable clothes suitable for dancing. A soft shoe is preferred (Black Jazz Flat is preferable). It is important for students to wear clothes that they are comfortable in, something they can move easily in, and something they don't mind going on the floor in. Dancewear is encouraged in this class to see the outline of the body.
EQUIPMENT: Students will need a file (Doc X, Document Wallet or similar) a pen, and a highlighter for class.
CONCERT ITEMS: MID YEAR- Mid Year casual items are likely to involve a short musical theatre excerpt combining singing, dance and acting. Students may work on competition items in this class but involvement in the actual competition is optional.
END OF YEAR- Concert Items will include but is not limited to a drama piece and a musical theatre piece containing
